Personally, I hate dealing with eviction matters. I used to run the evictions department at a bank firm that I previously worked at. I could be at a traverse hearing in the Bronx on one day, and at a trial in Shelter Island the next morning. I much rather be in a supreme court than a civil or district court. Nevertheless, I will represent existing clients and friends in eviction matters (whether prosecuting or defending).
Here is a Judgment of Possession and Warrant of Eviction that one of my landlord clients was recently awarded in Suffolk County District Court. In this matter, in order to avoid trial, the parties agreed to a stipulation of settlement. Of course, the respondent violated the stipulation so I had to make a motion for relief based on the violation of the stipulation.
We finally received the Warrant and Judgment from the Court. We will now coordinate with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office for the removal of the respondent.
If you’re the respondent and reading this, it’s time to make new living arrangements, bud.
